8, 10 and 10a Bedells Lane, Wilmslow

The Bedells Lane development was part new build and part refurbishment of an arts and crafts heritage building. We initially acquired the pair of semis which required refurbishment throughout. New contemporary extensions were added to the rear of both these properties as well as a complete re-wire, re-plumb, new kitchens, bathrooms and re-plaster. The really exciting part of this project however was adding a new build to the Western end of the existing semis. We wanted to create a development that looked as though it had always been there and went to great lengths to create the illusion. For example - take a look at the final completed development picture and in particular the roof. To create this 'always been there' effect we removed the old tiles from the rear of the existing property and used them to face the front of the new property. In turn new closely matching tiles were installed  to the rear of the new and existing properties. This ensured that the front of the roof achieved the desired 'weathered' look. We spent a great deal of time sourcing the exact size pebbles to ensure the render looked uniform across all three properties. All three were then treated to a fresh new coat of paint with matching doors. By some clever design work we were able to add a third floor to the new build. We achieved this by reducing the ceiling heights in the new build (compared to existing) which allowed us to claw back space for a third floor. The effect from the outside, in particular the window heights across all three is no different. Cunning but effective! The new build was built to exacting NHBC standards and the new owner benefited from a full 10 year structural warranty.
