Yew Tree House, Wilmslow
Yew Tree House is a complex refurbishment project located in Green Belt, South Wilmslow. The house was previously used as a residential training centre, split into four apartments and classed as commercial. The first task was to obtain change of use to a single residential dwelling from Cheshire East planning authority, no mean feat as any development in Green Belt is vigorously opposed. A creative residential scheme was proposed and the planners support gained. The scheme involved removing the previous toilet block and rebuilding with an open plan vaulted structure which housed the newly created oak staircase. The gable end was completely removed and the original house extended. Substantial structural alterations were carried out inside the property. The house was effectively gutted, re-wired, re-plumbed and re-plastered. All 27 windows were replaced. The slate roof was completely stripped , restored and every slate tile placed back in its original position. The interior was refinished with a hand made oak painted kitchen, granite worktops, travertine tiling, oak wooden flooring and paint by Farrow & Ball throughout. Externally the house was repainted, a new oak timber framed garage built, and the groundworks were complimented with York Stone. The stylish, contemporary open plan house of around 3600 Sq Ft has been home in recent years to players from both Manchester United and Manchester City. The property has also been used as a filming location for a variety of adverts and TV series roles.
